Sculpture Garden
Behind the Brooklyn Museum of Art, between it and the Brooklyn Botanicals there is a large fenced in area that contains this weird collection of sculptural bits and bobs. It is a collection of busts, broken statues, pieces of old building facades, column capitals, and one full sized sculpture of an Indian on a horse. I have no idea why it's there, where all these pieces came from, why they have been left out in the elements to crumble. The palettes that the pieces sit on have rotted and are turning to dust, cracked under the weight of broken bits of marble and bronze. The fence has a rusted lock, and dead vines growing on it. It's a powerful metaphor... for something.
