Do you mind if I ask what kind of pen you use for these sketches? Do you use different pens for the hatching?

Also, you've probably covered this, but do people ever notice you sketching them in the subway and get offended? I definitely feel nervous whenever I sketch live subjects.

No problem Anonymous! I use a Papermate Write Bros. model ballpoint. I only use one pen, just vary the line weight. Carrying multiple pens would get to be a hassle, and I like to keep myself as inconspicuous as possible. Last year I wrote a FAQ about it if you want to have a look at that. Thanks for the interest!
